I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I have been in private practice since January 2007. As this is my second career (teaching being my first), I have over 20 years experience in working with children and their families. I currently work with individuals, couples and families while specializing in working with children. I am trauma trained and utilize several evidence based therapies that are proven to be quick and effective for treating trauma. Through the advancements in neuroscience, we have found that there are safer more effective ways at treating trauma than with typical talk therapy. Some of these techniques do not even require you to talk about the trauma itself to be safe and effective. These include Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy and Progressive Counting as well as several other techniques like EFT (tapping) for managing anxiety. I also am trained in The Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy for working with couples.
